A
few testimonials from our graduates:
When I started
College Connections I had been out of school for twenty years. My
study and homework skills were weak at best, and what little I knew
of math was nearly gone, along with my confidence. Since I began
this course all my skills have vastly improved and although my math
abilities are not where I would like them to be, I can solve problems
that I would not have been able to, three months ago. My sentence
skills have improved in tests and I feel more confident now then
I have in years.
-Grace E., Spring 2008
The biggest
thing this class gave me was confidence. Before I came to this class
I was worried about being an adult student and how many there actually
were. Through this class I learned that there are many adult students
just like me. Another question I asked myself was can I do this?
Are my skills college ready? Before today I would have told you
no. I am now eager to go to school and want to go. I have the confidence
that I can succeed.
-Amber A., Spring 2008
As a whole,
the College Connection program has made me a more confident, inspired,
ready to learn individual, and I believe my success in college will
be largely due to my teachers and fellow students of College Connection.
-Edith K., Spring 2008
The College
Connection Class in which I participated in from January 2008 through
May 2008 was truly one of the best educational decisions of my life.
When you have been out of school for twenty-eight years, and given
the opportunity to experience college before beginning, you accept
this opportunity with appreciation. Although I was quite hesitant
and nervous about what to expect, there seemed to be someone there
for me every step of the way.
-Jenifer D., Spring 2008
I feel that
the College Connections program helped me a lot. I am not so nervous
now about starting college
I suggest to all adults going back
to college to take this class first. It is very helpful and you
will learn a lot more then you think you will.
-Jessica W., Spring 2008
The college
connection program has helped me to prepare for college. The program
has been a way for me to socialize with adults, improve my educational
skills, and introduce me to college life. The program has also given
me a source to go to later, when I need help or advice
.Overall
I feel the program has made me a more confident person about college.
It has helped me to improve my education skills and place well on
my accuplacer. Through the help of the instructors, and the program,
I'm now ready for college and all it has to offer me. Bring it on.
-Kristina S., Spring 2008
College Connections has helped me become more focused, confident,
and motivated about attending college. All of the classes and the
counseling have been very helpful. Although some of the academic
work was a review for me, it was all much needed
.The entire
College Connections staff is supportive, understanding, and effective.
Without this class, I would not have finished all the steps needed
to attend college in the fall. Because of College Connections, I
am at a point in my life where I know I can be a successful college
student.
-Natalie W., Spring 2008
The College
Connection has definitely helped me prepare for college. It has
been quite some time since I was last in a classroom. I knew I had
to improve in my math and writing skills before applying to college.
Over the past few months of this class, I have focused my time and
attention on my courses. This is something that is very difficult
for me to do, because I already have a hectic schedule. Instead
of fretting about the work week, I embraced the challenges of four
classes in one day. I have made myself organize a pattern in my
work week to fit in study time. Organization is something I needed
to improve in and stay focused on
.I have undoubtedly benefited
from this class. My classmates and I have given our support, mentally
and emotionally towards this class and to each other. In some ways,
I feel as though I would love to keep this class going throughout
the summer, because of the great educational experience it has been.
Thanks to all the instructors for their time and support. YOU ARE
BEAUTIFUL!!!
-Wanda S., Spring 2008
When I first
signed up for the College Connection course I was at a point in
my life where I could have just taken another job, or make the changes
in my life I knew I had to make. I went to my first class with no
real expectations, and I left at the end of that first day knowing
these classes were going to help me on many different levels. This
program has been a great refresher course for someone like me who
has been out of school for awhile. I have also gained the confidence
and motivation I need to attend and succeed at college. These classes
have also helped me realize my full potential as a student, and
to focus on my goals in life. I feel part of the reason for this
is the full support of the teachers to help in any way they can.
I would recommend this program to anyone looking to start college.
This program prepares you for college and gives a realistic view
of what to expect at the college level.
-Cathy G., Fall 2007
College Connection
has given me the necessary skills to return to college as a non-traditional
student. The dedicated staff is committed to helping each student
reach their maximum learning potential. It has been a challenging
semester with each of the four classes teaching valuable skills
necessary to succeed in college. The College Connection program
has been extremely beneficial to me. I would recommend it for non-traditional
students who are interested in gaining knowledge and confidence
before attending college.
-Sandra M. Spring 2007
Upon entering
this program I was very nervous and unsure about my return to college.
I joined this program with the hope of making my transition into
college easier.
I was very pleased with the way the instructors dealt with varying
skill levels and challenged each student accordingly. I am leaving
this program with a wealth of knowledge that I will carry on to
college, helping to make college life easier.
-Brad C. Spring 2007
This has been
the most enjoyable learning experience of my life. The College Connection
program not only rebuilds your skills and prepares you for college
but they motivate you and encourage you in a way that is amazing.
This program has given me more self-confidence than I have ever
had. Before I started I thought I might like to go back to college
but never believed I might actually go. I feel more confident about
starting college full time in the fall and it's because of this
program. I recommend that if anyone is thinking about furthering
their education but is a little hesitant than go through this program;
it will give you the tools and boost of confidence you need to further
your education. You'll never be sorry you did college connection.
Thank you
-Angela S. Spring 2007
I was very nervous
about going to college, after not being in school for 12 years.
College Connection gave me the confidence to start college courses.
They also brushed up on my English, Math skills and knowledge of
what college will be like. I know I will start college in the fall
surer of my skills and myself. I have a sense of what courses will
be like. I would recommend College Connection to anyone thinking
of started college.
-Billie-Jo D. Spring 2007
College Connections
has helped me tremendously. I am now confident with math. I either
know how to do it, or I know that I can learn it. Our math teacher
Marty Price, she should be commended, she is the best math teacher
I have every encountered. I know now that I can go to college. This
program, and the instructors have given me the confidence, faith,
and assurance that I need to succeed in college. I've already mentioned
Marty, but the other teachers Carolyn, Richard, and Becky are great
too. Carolyn is generally easy to talk to and get along with. Richard,
our language arts instructor, he's quirky, his teaching took a little
getting use to, but so doesn't grammar! Maybe it was more my resistance
to grammar than Richard. And then there is Becky, our advisor. She's
full of all the useful information we need. Everyone is here to
help us in whatever way we need. I have already and I will continue
to recommend this class to others. I thank you extremely, for your
much needed help.
